Bavarian Dirndl
The Dirndl is a typically traditional dress that was inspired by the dresses of the rural elderly women, consisting of a top which is a white blouse, a wide skirt and a colourful apron. Originally the Dirndl was the working garment of the female servant (Southern German: "Dirne" = girl); hence the word Dirndl is just an abbreviation for the word "Dirndlgewand" ( girl’s dress).
